Installing Softset apps
Download from softset.app, drag the app into Applications, and open it. Here are the details.
1. Install
- Download the app from softset.app/download or its product page.
- Open the DMG and drag the app into Applications.
- Open it from Applications. macOS asks once whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet; click Open. Most Softset apps then live in the menu bar rather than the Dock.
- Bought a license? Paste your key in the app’s Settings → License.
2. Check the download (optional)
Each build’s SHA-256 checksum is listed on the download page. To compare, open Terminal and run:
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Softset*.dmgThe long string it prints must match the checksum on the download page exactly. If it doesn’t, delete the file and email us.
3. Permissions
Some apps ask for macOS permissions, and each product page’s trust card explains exactly why:
- Softset Type needs Accessibility to notice abbreviations and paste expansions.
- Softset Bar and Softset Clip ask for Accessibility only for optional features (menu bar search, and pasting straight into an app).
- Softset Notch asks for Calendars, and to control Music or Spotify, only when you turn those on.
Grant them in System Settings → Privacy & Security. If an app says it has lost access after an update, remove it from the list with the minus button and add it again.
