Text snippet converter
Move your text snippets from one app to another, placeholders included.
Getting your snippets out
- TextExpander: select a group, then choose File → Export Group (or right-click the group). Either the .textexpander file or a CSV works.
- Espanso: run
espanso pathin Terminal to find the config folder; your snippets are the .yml files in its match folder. - Raycast: open the Export Snippets command and save the JSON file.
- macOS Text Replacements: open System Settings → Keyboard → Text Replacements, select them all with ⌘A, and drag them to the desktop. That makes a .plist file.
Putting them in
- Espanso: save the .yml file in the match folder. Espanso picks it up straight away.
- Raycast: open the Import Snippets command and choose the JSON file.
- macOS Text Replacements: drag the .plist file into the Text Replacements list in System Settings.
- TextExpander: import the CSV from TextExpander’s File menu.
- Softset Type: open Snippets, then Import & Export, and choose the CSV.
What converts
The cursor position, the clipboard, dates and times in most formats, and fill-in fields with defaults or a list of choices carry over wherever the other app has the same feature. When it doesn’t (macOS Text Replacements are plain text only, for example), the tool says exactly what it left out. Scripts, nested snippets, and app-specific extras aren’t converted and stay as typed.
