Which case to use
- Title Case capitalises the main words and keeps short words like “of”, “the”, and “and” lower case unless they start or end the title. Words with their own capitals, like macOS or iPhone, are kept as they are.
- Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence, and “I”. It’s the style most headings on the web use now.
- camelCase and PascalCase are for names in JavaScript, Swift, and Java; snake_case for Python and databases; kebab-case for URLs and CSS; and CONSTANT_CASE for constants and environment variables. Each line is converted separately, so you can paste a list.
Changing case on a Mac without a website
In most Mac apps, select the text, then Control-click it and choose Transformations: Make Upper Case, Make Lower Case, or Capitalise. Capitalise changes every word, so it doesn’t follow title case rules.
