Image converter and resizer
Convert images to JPEG, PNG, or WebP and make them smaller, without uploading them anywhere.
Which format to choose
- JPEG for photos you’re emailing or uploading: every app and website accepts it. Quality around 80 is hard to tell from the original at a fraction of the size.
- PNG for screenshots, logos, and anything with sharp edges, text, or transparency. It’s lossless, so files are larger.
- WebP for websites: usually smaller than JPEG at the same quality, with transparency. Most current browsers can save it; if yours can’t, the tool says so.
HEIC photos from an iPhone
Safari on a Mac can open HEIC photos, so the tool converts them there. Other browsers can’t open HEIC yet. To have your iPhone take photos as JPEG instead, go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible.
On a Mac without a website
- Select the images in Finder, Control-click them, and choose Quick Actions → Convert Image.
- Pick the format and size, and click Convert. The copies appear next to the originals.
